What is the writer's workshop?
It's a class format especially designed so that you can revise your personal narrative. You will work independently and follow the directions at different stations. The assignments at these stations will help you improve different aspects of your story.
How long will the workshop last?
The workshop will take place over four class periods from Wednesday (Sept 28) to Tuesday (Oct 4).
Each day, you will work at a new station. You will have approximately 45 minutes at each station to finish the given task.

#3) Example Readings: You will read example personal narratives and evaluate them.
#4) Sentence Revisions: You will pick your worst sentences and re-write them.
#5) Teacher 1 on 1: You will sit down with a teacher and discuss your essay, receiving personal feedback.

How does "teacher one-on-one" time work?
While you are working at one of the other four stations, you will be called to talk to Ms. G or one of our guest teachers. You can ask the teacher to look at specific parts of your story that you are having trouble with, or you can read the essay together and see what comments or ideas the teacher has for you. Keep in mind: the teacher might not have time to read your whole draft, and the teacher can't identify and fix every problem in your story for you.
You will be pulled out of one of the four stations, but you are still required to complete the task at that station. If you don't finish the assignment at a station, you must finish & submit it by the end of the writer's workshop. All unfinished writer's workshop assignments are due before the start of class on Wednesday, Oct. 5.

How will I be graded for the writer's workshop?
Each station has a different spot check. Successful and thorough completion of all assignments will result in an "A" grade for the writer's workshop in your grade book. Some spot checks are individual assignments (station 1, 3, 4), while others are group assignments (station 2).
