Beginning Your Personal Narrative
It's time to write your final personal narrative! Before you begin, you should learn the basic characteristics of personal narrative stories, and make an outline.
Peer-Review Outlines
Steps:
- Choose a group of 2-3.
- In your group, trade your outlines with each other. Share your outline with one of your group members, and make sure that someone else shared one with you.
- Read your partner's outline.
- Check to make sure your partner's story fits the stages of the hero's journey.
- Post THREE suggestion comments (using google docs comments feature) on your partner's outline. These comments should be helpful suggestions or ideas.
- Post ONE compliment comment. This should be something that you like about your partner's outline.
Questions to Help You Write Comments:
- Do the events in the outline clearly match the hero's journey pattern?
- Does the order of events make sense?
- Are parts of the outline lacking specific details?
- Are parts of the outline unclear?
- Are any events in the outline unnecessary to the story?
- Is the lesson learned at the end of the story meaningful and interesting?
